Until a week or so ago, I thought that the White Sox were one of those mythical teams of bygone days that didn’t exist anymore, like the Black Sox…
…or the Red Sox.
Of course, the Black Sox never existed, except metaphorically. They were the Chicago White Sox members who became mired in a gambling/game fixing scandal. This ended the career of the players involved, most notably ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson, still South Carolina’s most famous baseball personality.
